Pavel Durov: Telegram is Now Profitable
December 23, 2024
Stagnating because of the lack of clarity on Telegram’s frontman Pavel Durov’s perplexities with French authorities, Ton (TONUSDT) now has a good chance to catch up and become one of the most admired tokens again. By the end of 2024, Telegram's total revenue became positive and reached over $1 billion, bringing the first profit since the launch of monetization. Over the year, the number of Telegram Premium subscribers tripled, exceeding 12 million. Advertisement revenue also showed significant growth. Over the past 4 years, Telegram has raised about $2 billion through debt financing, and now it seems it’s bearing the fruit of the world’s #1 messenger’s capital spending program.
Durov wrote in his X blog: “...As I predicted, 2024 turned out to be a very good year for Telegram. For the first time in its 3-year history of monetization, Telegram became profitable. This year, the number of Telegram Premium subscribers tripled, exceeding 12 million. Our ad revenue also increased a few times. As a result, Telegram's total revenue in 2024 surpassed $1 billion, and we are closing the year with more than $500 million in cash reserves, not including crypto assets.”
